How to Dress for 3 Different Types of Weddings

Hello, beautiful! It is certainly that time of year, wedding season. I have already had two weddings myself one of which I was in. I think as a wedding guest we are all guilty of spending money on dresses that we will wear once to an occasion then have that same dress take up space in our closet once we take off our dancing shoes for the night. Well the solution to this problem is Best Dressed. You can rent designer dresses for up to 5 days at a fraction of the cost. With a location in Southie & another in Charlestown your wedding guest dress drama is solved. The nice thing about Best Dressed is that you can actually go into the store to try on dresses before you rent them. This boutique makes it easy to shop by breaking everything up by size. To complete your look they also sell jewelry & accessories yours to keep.

I spent some time at the Best Dressed Southie location to break down wedding dress attire for 3 different types of weddings: formal, cocktail, & casual.

1. Black Tie

A black tie wedding is a fancy affair so go long & formal. When dressing for a wedding such as this you want to look for a floor length dress. I kept it chic with this black open back number by Laundry which retails for $275 but can be rented for $70. With a black tie wedding you can never go wrong with black or jewel tones & a fabulous necklace to add a touch of sparkle. The key to dressing for a black tie wedding is glam with a hint of drama.

2. Cocktail

Cocktail attire is semi-formal. Look for a dress that is about knee length yet is still on the semi-fancy side, a party dress. This lace number is by Adrianna Papell which retails at $170 but rented at $60. For cocktail attire I feel that lace & fun accessories are always a good idea. Don't forget to keep necklines & hemlines appropriate. You can also wear sleek trousers or a jumpsuit. Don't forget a fabulous clutch.

3. Casual

A casual wedding could be something like a beach or backyard. I feel that you could go a couple ways with this. You could sport a flowy sun dress or wear a fun dress with wedges. Whatever dress you wear for this occasion I feel like wedges are a must. They are more casual & if you are walking in sand or grass you won't sink thru the ground like you would in stilettos. This fit & flair dress is by Nanette Lepore which retails for $375 but can be rented for $80. Although this is a more laid back affair I would still avoid jeans.

Well fash dolls, this concludes today's post. I highly recommend visiting Best Dressed at either location.  May you be dressed fabulously & have fun at your weddings this season.

Stay Sassy & God Bless!
